Overview

Pet Pocket is a pet caring application that I designed as a part of my UI/UX Design Specialization from CalArts. The project primarily focused on content, visual design principles, and UI.

Duration: 3 weeks

Tools: Figma, Adobe Illustrator

Pet Pocket

The Pet care app helps you understand your dog’s and cat’s sound state anytime. It offers pre-recorded pet sounds in various emotional states to help you identify how your pet is feeling (happy, sad, angry, in fear…)

It also serves real-time to connect people, who are new to pet-owning, to pet veterinaries and pet supply shops nearby—everything you need in one place.

Who is it for?

Pet care is for people who are new to pet-owning, specifically who have dog(s) and/or cat(s), and for people who are planning to get one.

Takeaways

Where do good ideas come from? They come from real good problems. As I decided on the concept, I wanted to make it easier for people who are new to pet-owning by offering the most necessary tools in one product. Pet Pocket app is something I feel society would greatly benefit from. There are many pet apps out there, but most of them focus only on one function (example: finding a dog walker, or finding pet veterinarian only, etc.).

In this project, I experimented with non-visual paper prototyping (cards), writing down the main steps, pages of the app, and testing with potential users by giving one card at a time and listening to their thoughts/actions. This helped organize the user flow and create a familiar visual concept for users.
